"Vostitsa" Corinthian Raisins
The main types of raisins, which are distinguished by their quality, in terms of priority, are «the Vostitsa", the "Gulf"
and "the Provincial". The world famous raisins named «Vostitsa» («VOSTIZZA») are regarded as the superior
quality raisins and boast a wonderful aroma and unique flavour.
The "Vostitsa" is grown only in the hilly and mountainous area of Aigialeia.
Its cultivation began in 1300 AD.
The excellent climate and fertile soil of the area help create a high quality product. What differentiates the
Corinthian variety "Vostizza" among other varieties is the slope of the vineyard’s microclimate, the favourable soil
and selected small "Black Currants" (Vitis Vinifera L) which is a form of dried grapes from a special variety of black
grape. It is regarded as one of the most historical products cultivated in Greece since ancient times. The raisins
"Vostizza" has been certified by the European Union as a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) since 1998.
