Gyms, supermarkets, and companies engaged in the sale of natural products are an excellent
channel for retail distribution. In wholesale, producers can meet in cooperatives and
associations to deliver products to wholesalers and / or food industries.
International Market
Consumer markets are affected by population dynamics and income trends. According to
United Nations (UN) figures in 2050, the world's population will be about seven billion people. The
aging process in Europe is expected to continue, while Eastern Europe is expected to see a
decline in its population.
As for the evolution of world income, it is estimated that in 2050 Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of
the economies of China, India, Russia and Brazil will together amount to US $ 84.5 trillion. As such,
the Asian region must be the hub of economic and population development, and continues to
play a key role in international trade and the market for agricultural products.
The countries of the European Union, the United States and Japan should make a positive
contribution to the agricultural sector, not just by developing their consumer markets but also by
reducing import protection mechanisms.
Developing countries are beginning to take advantage of opportunities in the organic market.
However, under the current conditions, large producers are better equipped to reach
international markets. The limited amount of organic products, quality standards and
governmental standards for organic production in developing countries may reduce the
demand for organic food in markets such as the United States, Europe and Japan.
Access to inspection and certification and the need to develop new forms of organic food
processing are the main challenges for companies to remain in a good position in the organic
market in the coming years.
