The Social Audit Organization may be formed by a group, association, cooperative or
consortium, with or without legal personality, family farmers organized and registered with the
Ministry of Agriculture, Animal and Procurement (Map). Regardless of the certification
mechanism, all products must be listed on the map.
Another improvement to the Brazilian legislation that benefits the organic farming sector is the
model that facilitates the recording of inputs for organic food, also called plant health products.
The new standard was published on 25 May 2012 in the Official Journal (Joint Regulatory
Guideline 1), signed by the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Health Service (Anvisa) and the
Ibama Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources of Brazil.
Meet the Food Safety Program (PAS) / New Products
The development of new products, the diversified packaging
and the preparation of material for print and digital
dissemination are also a good diversification strategy.
"Green" enterprises are a global trend, i.e. sustainable
enterprises that have production and distribution activities
based on social and environmental development that
promote improvements in communities and the sustainability
of present and future generations.
Data from the Ministry of Agriculture shows that the number of
organic farmers certified farmers has doubled in eight years. In
addition, there has been an increase in Fair Trade and
Solidarity in the US and Europe. This shows that the trend can
estimate production and sustainable consumption.
Learn How to Implement Planning in Rural Business / The Market
According to the latest data published by the Ministry of Rural Development (MDA), National
Organic Production has grown more than 20% per annum. However, this increase is lower than
demand for products. The picture is exacerbated by the fact that 70% of production is exported
to Europe.
The imbalance between capacity and demand for shelf products has caused a headache for
retailers throughout Brazil. Cities as diverse as Quixada within Ceara and Chapeco in Santa
Catarina have difficulty finding organic suppliers to meet the growing interest of their consumers
in these products.
Looking at the global scenario, especially in industrialized countries, the growing demand for
food, animal protein and inputs for their production, the outlook will be extremely favorable to
increasing Brazil's participation, particularly in the tropical fruit and meat sector and other
commodities.
Among the characteristics of quality, more and more products related to the preservation of
health gain ground. Also, environmental quality characteristics of production processes arise,
especially those related to the protection of sources and biodiversity. Consequently, the
requirements for quality partner and environmental certification processes are increased to
ensure traceability of the product and the corresponding production systems from the
movements caused by consumers.
